Dating Habits Of The 21st Century Essay

The purpose of this study will be to explore the different dating habits of men and women through social media and current dating websites. Focusing on the question has online dating altered the expectations people have of each other versus traditional dating. The study will focus on determining different dating patterns men and women tend to follow when they are meeting someone online and what patterns they look for when choosing a partner in person the old-fashioned way. If this study was conducted we would use the correlational method involving use of surveys, questionnaires, interviews, behavioral patterns and social media to monitor how people interact with each other.
Dating is a stage everyone has to deal with at one point in their life. Dating used to be seen as a means of courtship, where you would date to see whether you wanted to marry the other person or not. With it being the 21st century and the age of technology the rules of dating have completely changed with internet dating websites taking over the dating world. “According to the Online Publishers Associations (OPA) residents in the United States spend $469.5 million on online dating and personals in 2004 and over $500 million in 2005, this number is only projected to grow over the years (Alam, 2011, p.3).
