Essay on Eating Habits Of Students At The University Of California
This study aimed at finding out about the eating habits of students at the University of California in Irvine. The study addresses two questions: What UC Irvine college students are eating? How they obtain the food? In order to find the information to answer these questions, this study made use of qualitative techniques. During the data collection process, it required three hours for the three observation sessions. In addition, the three interviews conducted took another three hours. From this information collected, a few important themes arose out of the data. These main themes that were garnered from the study provide important information about the eating habits of students at University of California Irvine, which were: grocery shopping, food and drink consumption, and measures to eat healthy.
Grocery shopping is an essential step in an individual gathering food for oneself in order to maintain a proper diet. By grocery shopping a student can buy all the necessary ingredients and products to make their everyday meals. Each of the three students that I interviewed went grocery shopping at least two times every month. This was an important step in feeding themselves. Products such as water, milk, and cereal were on each participant’s grocery list that they constantly needed to buy.
