Personal Statement : My High School Career Essay

At the beginning of my high school career, I had no motivation. I did not set goals for myself so I was average in everything I participated in, never excelling at anything. It was not until my sophomore year did I realize that my college education depended on my high school performance. I had an intervention with my parents and guidance counselor and they helped me set small goals for myself so I could succeed in and out of school. I believe that setting goals will help me reach my full potential in the personal, academic and professional field. A personal goal that I try to implement into my every day routine is increasing my faith and giving back. I have found that my religion and volunteering go hand in hand and are crucial to reach spiritual fulfillment. My faith and volunteering are values that my parents have drilled into my head since I was a little kid. My parents use to force me to go church and participate in activities that would help my community. It was not until middle school that my parent’s passion for faith and community became my own. I was volunteering at vacation bible school and was listening to a bible story and something just clicked for me. From then on, I became devoted to my faith and giving back as much as I could. In college, I would like to be a part of as many organizations as I can so I am able to still continue to give back to my community. In the future, I would like to keep expanding my personal goals of a strong faith and service. I…
