The Obesity Of Eating Fast Food Essay
I have chosen to target the behavioral excess of eating fast food. I have chosen this habit because I am getting married at the end of the summer and I need to lose weight in order to fit into my dress. I have gained about 50 pounds over the last four years of college due to my unhealthy eating habits. These unhealthy habits have been the result of my busy schedule and poor cooking skills. I do not think I knew how much of a problem this behavior was until I started recording how often it was occurring. This behavior needs to be changed in order to improve my health, save money, and lose unhealthy weight.
I have operationally defined “Eating Fast Food” as consuming any food that was prepared in a restaurant intended for fast service. This includes chain restaurants such as Wendy’s, McDonalds, Cook Out, Chick Fil A, Comeback Shack, and so on. If the food is something that can be delivered or picked up in a drive through I am considering it to be “Fast Food.” Each instance of eating out will be tallied that day even if this does not account for an entire meal. This meaning that a three course meal at Taco Bell is tallied the same as picking up a milkshake at Cookout, the amount of food is not being recorded just the instance.
In order to best record and analyze this behavior excess, I measured the frequency of the behavior and used a continuous recording method. I recorded every time I ate out each day. To establish a baseline, I recorded the…
