Here I will give my perspective on various screening tools and therapeutic invention pertaining to the client with Substance Use Disorder as outline in the DSM-5. These screening tools are specific for the adult addict whether male or female and the adolescent addict. It will cover the characteristic of the substance use disorder while looking at the gender, culture, age, disability and physical handicaps. Many abusers of illicit substance have dual diagnosis disorders, and many have never been diagnosed. This paper will also cover the following screening tools along with the advantages and disadvantages of each. Adult Substance Use Survey (ASUS-R), CAGE, Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment, and the AUDIT-C. In addition to the therapeutic inventions, Cognitive behavior therapy, Contingency Management, and the Multidimensional family therapy The characteristic I will presenting will cover substance use disorder, the effects are multicultural, is gender bias, and makes no preference age, disability and or physical handicaps. According to the DSM-5 substance consist of opioids, alcohol, hallucinogens, sedatives, stimulants and inhalants, which cause the person to develop addictive features. These drugs are taken in alarming amounts, the inability to cutback or cease using, you time is spent using or trying to recover from using.
