Introduction
Child abuse and neglect is a widespread and on going problem in today’s world. Preventing child abuse is vital in keeping the next generation and future generations from repeating previous childhood lifestyles. Being a current resident in Florida, the presence of child abuse and neglect is unfortunately high. This is not only concerning for the state of Florida, but also for the rest of the world. There needs to be more awareness about this topic and through implementation of various research the world is slowly but surely coming to recognize which is the best method to prevent child abuse and neglect. Regardless of the location the sessions were held, both showed an improvement in mental health and a reduction in parent’s stress levels, therefore reducing the amount of child abuse and neglect.

Falconer, Clark, and Paris (2010) evaluated a research program used to prevent child abuse and neglect; their article is called Validity in an evaluation of Healthy Families Florida. Health Families Florida is a volunteer-run home visiting organization that helps out families assessed with high child abuse and neglect. The subjects of this experiment were split up into three groups: the completers group, the high fidelity group, and the low dosage service group. The completers group consists of kids who finished the Health Families Florida program in December 31, 2003. The completers group is also known as the control group compared to the other groups. The high fidelity group is the group who is receiving more treatments and therapy sessions than provided by the program. The high fidelity group is then compared to the low dosage group in which treatments were shortened to just three months of service. The experiment was then performed on each assigned group, which was given a dosage amount of therapy. Comparing the values of each group then tested the validity of the program. The error of the testing came from selection bias in the tests. Selection bias can be described as why one family is chosen over the other to get a certain treatment. The
